Street Snow Removal
Dear friends and neighbors,
As much as I might love the white stuff, I'm really sorry to see it begin falling so early. Here's a reminder, however: City policy is to plow when there is a snow fall of 4 or more inches. Major streets are cleared first, then local streets. If there is less than 4 inches of snow, the city will de-ice. The City doesn't plow to bare pavement. This year, the city will monitor and anticipate snow events rather than just react to them.
You are my eyes on the street. The City staff expects to plow all the streets in a 4 inch storm by morning. A major storm (more than 8 inches) takes longer; we allow 24 hours to get neighborhood streets clear. If your streets are not plowed by the next day and it's really bad out, please let me know. We all know that the staff works all night when it is snowing (you do know that, don't you?) but they can miss a street here and there. I want to be certain your neighborhood streets don't get missed. ,Here’s the number for the snowdesk at the City to find out when the plows will be down YOUR street –
994-2359
I also want to be certain that we don't end up with dangerous accumulations of ice. Last year some neighborhood streets became icy messes. We all want to avoid that. Please let me know if the situation in your neighborhood is getting bad.
We are all responsible for shoveling our walks when snowfall is heavier than 1 inch.
Thank you!

Councilor Briere:
The city's snow removal is shameful and a public safety hazard.
Main streets are barely plowed within 24 hours. Side streets are ignored for days and when they're plowed, driveways are blocked, with the street left with a sheet of iced over snow.
The city will get sued over this eventually by someone. It is the most shameful, inexcusable snow removal program I have ever seen.
